Mr. & Mrs. House | A Fall Terra-Cotta Wedding

Oct 29, 2021

Rewind the clock to the end of May in Charleston, SC. You could find me strolling the quaint city streets- a kaleidoscope of rainbow colors, then exploring the Spanish moss-filled Magnolia plantation…. Yet none of those were the best part of that trip. My wonderful clients-turned friends, Kendall and Ben were hands down the highlight of that workation. I got to spend time with them adventuring around this city  capturing photos and also just enjoying each other’s company. My little family also got to spend some time with them on this trip when we where not shooting, Mia Grace is Kendall’s biggest fan and she was SO good to my girl. So of course capturing their destination engagement session earlier this year, left me overflowing with excitement for their wedding day. (check out their Charleston Engagement here )

Let me assure you, it did not disappoint!!! This is the third Lamb sister’s wedding that I have photographed, so stepping into their beautiful family home to start the getting ready portion of the day felt both familiar and welcoming. There is something so sweet when you have returning clients that become like family. Kendall is very detail-oriented and that showed, as she had all her details ready for me and even had Ben’s groom details ready for my second shooter… It’s a rare occurrence for the groom to have all these details ready to be captured too. Kendall DIY-ed several pieces for her day, which made it all the more special. The vintage, refurbished vases with a terra-cotta look for the center-pieces were a showstopper. Not to mention the pampas grass galore for all the bohemian vibes. Literally all my boho dreams came true on this day! Meanwhile, the groom started off the day with a round of golf with his groomsmen. They got ready in Kendall and Ben’s home complete with bohemian decor that foreshadowed the details to come of their wedding. Then we ventured to a field behind their home, a perfect fit and backdrop with earthy colors and feeling to it.

As the day continued, Kendall was bubbling with excitement to see her groom for their first look. This took place in front of the picturesque barn on the Lamb’s property; they could literally turn this into a venue, but for now it’s been reserved for celebrating some of their lovely daughters’ weddings. Ben had such a sweet reaction to seeing his bride and in the moment the nerves were calmed and you could see the joy they had of just getting to be together the rest of their day. They sat on the hanging swing at the edge of the barn and exchanged sentimental letters and gifts. One such gift was the picture frame that Kendall had secretly been adding letters to and hiding in the back of the frame for the past few years, unbeknownst to Ben. How special is that?!! She also had a surprise funny gift for Ben as well, that we will keep as an inside joke, but just know it was good haha! After this, we ventured around Kendall’s family’s beautiful property for dreamy couple portraits. The soft, earth tones in the field and rocks beside the pond, perfectly matched the bohemian, warm aesthetic of the day.

The ceremony occurred in front of the amazing arch they had made. For an added fun touch, after the ceremony concluded we had Kendall and Ben’s bridal party surround them to celebrate with popping confetti! Next, Kendall and Ben made their way to the white tented reception (another bohemian dream) with some of the best entrances I have ever seen from a bridal party. They partied the night away under the stars on the black and white checkered dance floor, that just so happened to perfectly reflect the lights from the House sign, showing off their new last name. Kendall’s father gave a heartfelt speech that almost left everyone in tears, and the family-feel with all the speeches and guests made it extra special. I was greeted by five of my past brides and grooms at this reception, so getting to briefly catch up with all of them was another highlight of this night. You don’t always see the bride and groom remain on the dance-floor the whole night, but that’s exactly what Ben and Kendall did, truly making the most of their day. That’s my favorite kind of reception!

Kendall and Ben, I cannot thank you enough for allowing me to capture your day! I have treasured our friendship and getting to know you all and seeing your sweet personalities shine! This day was a true celebration of YOU and I was honored to be a small part of it. Please enjoy a few of my favorites!
