Mr. and Mrs. Penichet | A Lavender Summer Wedding at the Thoroughbred Center

Jun 10, 2022

Lyndsee and Andrew’s wedding was the definition of a classic Kentucky wedding, from the vintage Ford truck to being held at the Thoroughbred Center, and all the unique Southern touches the groom had.  Lyndsee carried herself with such grace and displayed a classic beauty throughout the day as well.  This wedding was definitely worth a drive back from Nashville to Kentucky and made me feel so at home from the dreamy scenery to all the people involved.  Lyndsee had coincidentally chosen a lilac/lavender color for her day a while back in the planning process and, ended up being perfectly ahead of the trend for this spring/summer.  I even reverted back to my old ways and wore a little color to match this wedding instead of going with the traditional vendor black.

When we pulled up to the beautiful white brick venue surrounded by stables, farmland, and horses that were all the epitome of Kentucky, I knew it was going to be a good day.  The Thoroughbred Center was like a hidden Kentucky treasure I wish I’d know existed before now.  We made our way to the bride’s getting ready quarters and Lyndsee greeted us with excitement and impressive organizational skills, fully prepared for the day with details and all.  She thought of everything and even had the Groom’s unique details ready for me, complete with a boutineer  and bowtie made out of feathers since the groom loved hunting.  Lyndsee and her girls were so sweet and made me feel so appreciated.  Meanwhile, Andrew was getting ready with the help of his sweet mama and we headed to the beautiful white arches for some groomsmen photos.  These guys were ready to have a good time!  While doing groomsmen photos someone rolled up in a vintage hunter green Ford truck and when Andrew said it was their getaway car, you can imagine our excitement.  We had to incorporate it in photos!  Another sweet touch was the family heirloom gold-plated watch that Andrew’s uncle handed him to carry with him through the day.

After the prettiest bridesmaids photos (they all looked so good in their lavender dresses!), it was time for the ceremony where Andrew would finally get to see the lovely Lyndsee in her beautiful dress!  The ceremony was complete with the perfect weather and sun shining, and the flower girl who fully lived up to her role.  Once Lyndsee made her way down the aisle and she and Andrew joined hands, they shared vows and celebrated becoming husband and wife.  Their ceremony also honored their cultural heritage and tradition in a sweet moment.

Family was very important to Lyndsee and Andrew so we had to pick the dreamiest spot under the white brick arches of course!  And then we had the couple share some sweet moments just the two of them as well, since the light was too perfect not to!  We headed into bridal party photos with the best group who kept the energy high and exciting for Lyndsee and Andrew.  You could tell they surrounded themselves with so many of their best people.  Finally, as we wrapped up bridal party, it was time for my favorite part of the day where we focused on Andrew and Lyndsee, capturing those just married feelings.  I of course had to start with the vintage truck— it sat positioned in the front of the venue, perfect light glowing behind it, just calling my name.  As we began posing Andrew and Lyndsee in front of the classic beauty, I kept exclaiming, “This is SO Kentucky Bride!!!” because it truly was.   This is truly the definition of a “classic southern wedding”.  Lyndsee’s natural beauty and excitement was complimented perfectly by this statement Kentucky vehicle.  Andrew requested photos with the truck too and it matched the theme of the day so well.

As if the energy and excitement for the day couldn’t get any better, we walked into the most lively reception.  The reception space at the Thoroughbred center was nothing short of expectations and was decorated beautifully incorporating the other unique touches from the day—  from more lilac and purple florals to the Groom’s hunting cake.  Not to mention, Martine’s Pastries (my absolute favorite baker) catered the cake and every layer surprised us with a different delicious flavor.   After the speeches and other main events were out of the way it was time to party and the wonderful DJ opened the dance floor!  Lyndsee truly celebrated dancing and singing with her girls!! I found myself dancing along behind my lens because it was just that fun.  They ended the night with a sparkler send-off that led to that dreamy vintage getaway car.

Andrew and Lyndsee, thank you for choosing me to capture your day and making me feel so welcome!!! Please enjoy a few of my favorites of this perfect, classy Kentucky day that could not have gone more smoothly!

This amazing wedding would not have been possible without this wonderful team of vendors!
