Mr & Mrs Logue | A Detailed Wedding at Waterstone

Sep 4, 2022

I have been looking forward to this wedding since Sydney and James asked me to capture it, as it took place at one of my all time favorite venues, Waterstone.  This venue is located in the heart of Johnson City and I have been dying to shoot there again since a 2020 wedding I photographed there.  Not only that, but I was so excited to capture Sydney’s day and be surrounded by her sweet family.  This day was extra special, because not only did I get to capture Sydney’s day but I also get to capture her sister’s wedding later this year too– so I have the privilege of working with both the lovely Wilson sisters within a few months of each other!!  They are the sweetest girls, so how could I expect anything less from their family and bridal party.  From the weather, to the venue, people, and overall ethereal feel of this day, it couldn’t have been more perfect!

When you pull into the tree-lined drive of waterstone you immediately enter what feels like another world, one that’s magical and doesn’t really look like you’re in Tennessee anymore. We made our way up the stone steps to the cutest bridal suite in the form of a hobbit house nestled in greenery and overlooking the expansive pond.  The dome shaped building has perfect light and when walked in, Sydney and her bridal party were so welcoming and already bubbling with excitement.  I willingly went to work gushing over all of Sydney’s beautiful details and the extra florals I was able to gather– possibly some of my favorite florals ever!  This paired with Sydney’s classic, fine-art details and sage green accent color looked stunning arranged on the beautiful cement floors to tie in the venue.  The bubbling I  mentioned early didn’t stop with excitement, but took on double meaning when the bridesmaids popped some champagne, in quite possibly the cutest champagne pop I’ve photographed.  These girls couldn’t take a bad photo!  They all looked even more beautiful if that’s possible after slipping into their green velvet dresses and standing in front of the stone point/lookout area that showed off every corner of the venue.

Meanwhile, the guys were found nestled in their own nature oasis in the treehouse across the property that served as the groom’s getting ready suite.  James was getting ready with his guys and doing finishing touches. He had his own impressive details, my favorite being his heirloom diamond ring.  The treehouse had beautiful stained glass feature windows and a cool loft.  After putting on boutonnieres, the groomsmen photos took place in front of the water area with the waterfall flowing down the stone in the background.  After the guys had their moment of fun, it was time for the first look.  We decided to take utmost advantage of the beautiful stone overlook  in front of the hobbit house house.  So after Sydney shared a first look with her Dad, we had James make his way to the bride’s corner of the venue and trade places as we got him all set up facing the waterfall and waiting for his bride.  The first look was nothing short of beautiful.  The amazing videographers and myself were in awe at the perfection as we captured more portraits, making the most of Sydney’s phenomenal bouquet and cathedral veil.  This was also a special touch, as her sister Madison plans to wear the same veil at her wedding in a few months.  The spot was so amazing we didn’t want to move, so the bridal party met us there too and the venue, plus the glowing light kept showing off for us!

It was finally time for the bride and groom to make it official at the most amazing ceremony spot– water-side with the stone and cascading waterfall as the background.  Some familiar faces and guests had made their way all the way from Kentucky to celebrate this couple!  The flower girls and ring bearer made an adorable entrance proceeding Sydney’s walk down the path to the ceremony spot surrounded by the stone and water. We captured the close relationship Sydney and James have with their families in front of the ceremony arch, showcasing more of those exquisite florals.  After a few more just married portraits in front of the water, it was time for the reception.

As if Waterstone couldn’t get any better, they added an outdoor dance floor in front of an additional waterfall since the last time I’d been there.  This was set up directly next to my favorite canopy, reception tent.  The wooden pillars/supports make it feel woodsy and outdoorsy, yet classic.  The tent was the perfect canvas for Sydney’s beautiful florals and decor at the reception.  The night continued with more personal and beautiful touches.  They had the cutest bar cart made from a vintage camper, where guests could try signature drinks inspired by their dogs.  Sydney’s Dad gave a speech that was the perfect mix of heartfelt and light.  He noted how Sydney and James were in kindergarten together and he had jokingly said back then James was going to be in jail one day.   Instead that little redhead ended up marrying his daughter.  On a more serious note he shared the three lessons he had learned having daughters.  More dancing, cake-cutting, and excitement filled the night.  For the exit Sydney and James ran through quite the long line of sparklers.  She also got to show off her jean jacket featuring a new last name to end the night! As we left the venue the party was going up another notch as they brought out my favorite glow sticks on the dance floor.

Sydney and James this day could not have been any more amazing and thank you for allowing me to capture it!  The incredible team of vendors and venue at Waterstone made this day go so perfectly and I loved working with them.  Please enjoy a few of my favorites!!!  Until the next Wilson sister wedding!!!

This amazing day would not have been possible without this wonderful team of vendors!
