There is something so special about getting to photograph a wedding for family, and Summer & Keaton’s wedding day was exactly that for me. When I got the honor of traveling out of state to Richmond, Kentucky to capture this sweet couple’s wedding day, I already knew it would be unforgettable. Summer is one of my cousins, and I absolutely adore her, so being trusted to document one of the most important days of her life meant more to me than I can put into words.

The day began at the beautiful I Do Barn venue in Richmond, Kentucky, where the bridal suite was already filled with excitement, laughter, music, and the sweetest energy. You could feel how loved Summer was by every person in the room. The girls spent the morning celebrating together while anticipation built for the day ahead. Later in the afternoon, the boys arrived after a round of golf carrying that same excitement and joy that filled the entire property.

One of the sweetest moments of the day was watching Summer get into her dress with her mom by her side. It was such an emotional and beautiful moment that reminded everyone just how meaningful wedding days truly are. Shortly after, Summer and Keaton shared an intimate first look that was incredibly special. The way these two look at each other says everything. Their love was so genuine, joyful, and effortless, filled with God’s love, and their laughter throughout the day made my job so much fun. Every photo captured the happiness they share together.

Before the ceremony, we had so much fun capturing bridal party portraits. This group brought the energy and kept everyone laughing nonstop. By the time the ceremony began, there was such a beautiful sense of excitement in the air as everyone gathered to celebrate the new Mr. and Mrs.

Once reception time rolled around, everyone was more than ready for a fun night ahead. One of my favorite DJs, Todd Chaney, kept the evening absolutely alive from beginning to end. He truly knows how to get a crowd going and create an atmosphere where everyone is laughing, dancing, and having the best time.

The evening started with a beautiful first dance and heartfelt speeches, but one of the most unforgettable moments of the entire day happened during dinner. Summer quietly snuck away with her hairstylist while I followed along to document what happened next. In one of the coolest surprises ever, she chopped off inches of her hair in the bridal suite! When she returned to the reception with a stunning short bob, everyone was completely shocked. The look on Keaton’s face when he saw her new haircut was absolutely priceless and one of my favorite reactions of the entire night.

Then came the cake cutting… which quickly turned into a full-on cake fight. By the end of it, absolutely no one was clean because they had shoved cake all over each other’s faces. Somehow, Summer still looked adorable with frosting everywhere, and the photos from that moment are some of the funniest and most genuine images from the day.

The dance floor stayed packed the rest of the night without an inch of room left as everyone danced and celebrated nonstop. It was the kind of reception where you could truly feel how loved these two are by all of the people surrounding them.

We ended the evening with sunset portraits, soaking in the final moments of such a perfect day together. Summer and Keaton, thank you both so much for choosing me to be your wedding photographer. It was such an honor to capture these memories for you both, and I truly could not be happier for you. I adore you both so much and will treasure this day forever.
