Mr and Mrs Ryan | A Classy Summer Wedding At the Griffin Gate Marriott

Jun 30, 2022

We headed to Lexington for a truly perfect summer wedding day at the recently revamped Lexington Griffin Gate Marriott Resort and Spa.  Seriously, after a week full of high temps and a heat advisory this weather on a wedding day was refreshing and such a blessing.  It was just a glimpse at how perfect the rest of the day would be.  Danielle and Robby had been awaiting this day for a long time – ten years to be exact– and it could not have been a more smooth day full of personal touches, elegance, and poise.

As we walked into the hotel room where the girls got ready, we were greeted by our beautiful, glowing bride.  There was just such a peaceful atmosphere and the rooms at the Marriott added a nice touch with new modern, clean colors and design.  I was so impressed with all the changes since my last wedding here!  Every member of the bridal party was kind and welcoming, sharing the same easygoing and relaxed approach as the bride.  The flower girl had the cutest personality entertaining us all with comments like “My name is Griffin, like this place!”  I enjoyed styling all the elegant blush toned details and Danielle’s beautiful invitation suite.  She even chose her perfume by color matching her invites in the store; that’s my kind of girl!!!  Meanwhile Robby was getting ready with anticipation for the first look and seeing his beautiful bride.  He had a great day of golf at the Griffin Gate course with his guys that morning.  In fact, after the groomsmen joined him to get ready they were all exchanging money after their bets made on their round of golf. Robby’s sweet mom looked beautiful in her dress and helped him with all the finishing touches.

Soon enough it was time for the first look so we ventured out to the white mansion on the property for the first look.  Danielle approached with several of her bridesmaids in tow and her dress looked like it was made for her!! The beautiful lace details and slight shimmer to the dress and cathedral veil combined for a show stopping elegant look.  Of course she took Robby’s breath away.  We then headed around the corner to a spot surrounded with perfect light and beautiful hydrangeas for more couple portraits. I wouldn’t even have to direct these two, because their genuine interaction when they looked at each other was so pure and beautiful!! We often say people are photogenic, but in this case I think their love was photogenic!

Finally it was time for the ceremony, in a beautiful brick courtyard area with Robby and Danielle’s closest family and friends.  They shared their vows and were pronounced husband and wife in what we said may have been one of our shortest ceremonies ever!! It was sweet, simple, and true to them though!  Plus, we will take all the extra time for photos we can get!  Under the overarching branch of a tree with light shining through the leaves we captured some beautiful family photos.  We even got to partake in and capture a glowy cocktail hour that emitted an elegance that flowed perfectly with this couple and the rest of their day.

Fast forward to the white tented reception we got to enjoy a celebration of Robby and Danielle filled with some of our favorite things– live music and Martine’s Pastries!!! Anytime Martine’s does the cake I know it’s going to be a good evening.  This reception was no exception, it just seemed so true to Robby and Danielle with the classy elegance!  They had a great live band with some of the coolest lights I’ve gotten to capture and talented musicians!! It was genuinely so fun and the bridal party had some talented dancers in their midst.  From some of the youngest to oldest guests, people just got out there and danced and truly enjoyed themselves.  For the exit Danielle decided to do something different and repurposed the flower girl’s flowers for a petal toss under the twinkle lights to end the night.  This was quite possibly the best flower petal exit I’ve had as no one skimped on their handful of flowers so we got plenty of amazing shots with petals galore!! It was the perfect end to the perfect day.

Robby and Danielle, thank you for choosing me to capture your beautiful day, it was such a great day all around!!! Please enjoy a few of my favorites of this elegant day at the beautiful Griffin Gate Marriott Resort.

This amazing day would not have been possible without this wonderful team of vendors!
