Mr. & Mrs. Mullen’s | A Timeless Southern Wedding at The Ashley Inn

Aug 17, 2022

Marcus and Riley’s day at the historic and quaint Ashley Inn could not have been more perfect!  The venue boasts of classic Kentucky scenery and features such as horses, the historic home, and more scenic spots throughout the property.  This was my second wedding of the year here and it is quickly taking residence in my heart as a favorite venue.  The historic home where the girls got ready has the perfect suite upstairs for the bride to get ready in.  The vintage/historic bathroom for getting ready is unrivaled, featuring elements such as the black and white tile, and a clawfoot tub that brings such character to this space.

After getting ready it was time for all the first looks.  Riley’s close relationship with both of her parents was evident throughout the day and she shared the sweetest moment with her Dad during their first look.  Then it was time for the much awaited moment, when Marcus got to see Riley as they prepared for the rest of what the day and their marriage would hold.  For this first look we chose the most beautiful spot under the weeping willow adjacent to the pond… it doesn’t get much better than that!!! As we proceeded with portraits and bridal party it looked like storms were going to roll in so we got everyone safely in hiding.  The storms ended up passing though and the weather turned out perfect for the rest of the day.

The ceremony took place at another picturesque location with the horses in the background.  Then after Marcus and Riley were pronounced husband and wife, the lovely dinner included more classy elements that added to the historic charm of the day.  Dinner was held under the pavilion and included a champagne tower– a trend I am hoping is here to stay!!!  The remainder of the evening’s events, including dancing and cake cutting, happened in the outdoor barn area.  They had the coolest bar setup made from an old horse trailer, which fit right in with this venue.  The couple even had some custom drinks made with mint and fresh juices that came homemade and grown from the bar owners garden for an added personal touch.  We couldn’t conclude the night though without me stealing Marcus and Riley for some sunset portraits, after the weather cleared up so nicely.  These ended up being some of my favorite portraits of the day!!!  For the send off Riley did a little dress change and it was the perfect reception dress for dancing the night away!!!

Marcus and Riley, thank you for choosing me to capture your beautiful day at the Ashley Inn!! The perfect elite team of vendors also made this day go so smoothly!! Please enjoy a few of my favorites of this gorgeous August day!!

This amazing day would not have been possible without this wonderful team of vendors!
