Some sessions just hit a little deeper, and this one will forever be one of them. Getting to photograph Mattie Jo and Reese’s engagement was so much more than a photoshoot—it was a full-circle moment that filled my heart in every way.

I’ve known Mattie Jo for so many years, long before she was planning a wedding or stepping into this beautiful new season of life. She was part of my senior rep team back in high school, and even then she was someone I adored—beautiful inside and out, kind-hearted, hardworking, and such a bright light to everyone around her.

Not only have I grown up loving her entire family, but she also became our babysitter when we lived in Kentucky. My girls absolutely adore her just as much as I do, and she loved them like her own. So standing behind the camera for her engagement session felt like the greatest honor—one of those moments where time slows down and you realize just how special it is to be part of someone’s story through so many stages of their life.

Mattie Jo and Reese are the sweetest pair, and watching them together was effortless. Their energy, the way they look at each other, the way they laugh—everything about the two of them just fits.

And Kentucky didn’t disappoint. The beautiful fall colors wrapped around us, giving the entire session a warm golden glow. The leaves, the soft light, the chilly hint of fall in the air—it all created the perfect backdrop for a love story that’s been building for years.
